Unconcerned about when he’ll debut for his new club, North Queensland Toyota Cowboys’ newest recruit Te Maire Martin says he's happy to 'learn from the best' and work on his game as the next stage of his rugby league life begins.

Martin, 21, arrived in Townsville on the weekend after making a mid-season switch from Penrith to the Cowboys, where he's contracted until the end of the 2019 season.
The quietly spoken New Zealander said he was excited by the move and saw the fresh start as the next chapter in his footballing story.
“The club has been really welcoming this week, the boys are great and I’ve enjoyed the first couple of training sessions,” said five-eighth Martin, who played 13 NRL games for the Panthers over two seasons.
“At this stage, I’m thrilled to be learning under JT (Cowboys co-captain Johnathan Thurston), who I’ve always been a huge fan of.
“It’s an amazing opportunity, to learn from the best, and I’ll be soaking everything in and trying to improve myself as a footballer.”
Martin will provide valuable backup in the halves for Cowboys head coach Paul Green, joining Thurston, Michael Morgan, Kyle Laybutt and Ray Thompson in the playmaking group.
The former Keebra Park High prodigy said his talk in general play and his defence were two key areas of his play he’d look to improve.
