Welcome back to Althea Projects for Field of Dreams at Saturday's Cowboys home game!

Supporting and strengthening families so children and young people can reach their full potential >>> Althea Projects video

Field of Dreams program partner Southern Cross Austereo have donated 30 tickets to Althea Projects in recognition of their important work in supporting children in need, to give them the best opportunity to have a happy childhood.

Althea Projects offers programs – such as their Shared Family Care foster and kinship service – to support children who are unable to reside in their family home because of an unfavourable living environment.

Althea Projects CEO Mandy Thompson said the Field of Dreams program is a wonderful opportunity to reward foster and kinship carers who support vulnerable children in our community.

“Foster carers provide a safe and loving home for children aged from birth to 18 years. This can be short term for a few days or weeks, or longer term over several years,” Ms Thompson said.

“Sadly, there are increasing numbers of children entering the system and as such more foster carers are needed.

"Shared family care provides training and support to foster carers in order to equip them to care for the children who may have a range of needs.

“Anyone who is interested in becoming a foster carer should pop down and see us at the LGIAsuper Community Hub on game day.

“The carers and children from Shared Family Care are really looking forward to getting behind the Cowboys this weekend; it is something the children in particular wouldn’t normally have the chance to do, that is, get out and see their local sporting legends in action.”

FIELD OF DREAMS

Each home game, a Field of Dreams partner donates tickets to recognise the contribution of a community organisation to North Queensland, with 360 special guests a year who would not ordinarily have the opportunity to attend a Cowboys game watching their heroes live in action.
