Picture-perfect for final grind

Under a picture-perfect vista on a clear Otago summer’s day, the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys couldn’t have asked for better conditions in which to hone their prep for Round 1 of a new National Rugby League campaign.

With kick-off against the Canberra Raiders at 1300SMILES Stadium a mere 10 days away, the Cowboys are deep into their pre-season training camp in Queenstown, New Zealand, where Paul Green and his entire 31-man squad have been hunkered down since the weekend.

At stunning Waikatipu Oval today, the team was put through a gruelling conditioning and skills session, while those in the injured squad worked out under the watchful eye of rehab specialist Ash Graham.

After lunch, the team took part in a three-hour Amazing Race-style team exercise – where they were joined by students from Arrowtown Primary School – ahead of tomorrow’s final day of work.

The squad returns home on Wednesday evening ahead of Friday’s corporate launch.

The Cowboys host the Raiders on Saturday 4 March – tickets on sale through Ticketek.
