The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys were thrilled to host thousands of members and fans at Townsville Stadium today for the club's annual Community Day.
During a morning filled with live music and entertainment, fans got up close and personal with the players for signatures, including crowd favourites, co-captains Matt Scott and Johnathan Thurston.
The event was also a fantastic opportunity to introduce the 2017 NRL team, as well as speak to assistant coach Josh Hannay ahead of his first season on the club's coaching side.
Club partners ensured the fun never stopped with giveaways, mascots, competitions and activities for the young and young at heart.
Cowboys head coach Paul Green said the amazing turnout showed the passion our community has for their team.
“You’re all part of the Cowboys family and the boys really appreciate it, especially when we get out and play at home games,” Green said during the team's introduction.
The packed program also included rugby league skills clinics with the Cowboys’ development team, performances by the Spirit cheersquad and 1RAR band, appearances by club mascots Bluey and Miss Moo and the chance to win a season family membership.
This year’s merchandise range was on sale, and the membership team were on hand to sign up the newest 2017 season members.
As a special thank you, the first 1,000 members also picked up a gift pack filled with Cowboys goodies – just one of the bonuses of being a member of the club.
Long-time member Brent Harvey brought his children Colby and Daley along to meet their favourite players and be part of the excitement of the first event of the season.
“When the kids heard the Community Day was on, I wasn’t allowed to not bring them! The boys really are their heroes, and we just love them,” Mr Harvey said.
