Design and construction company Paynter Dixon Queensland have joined the Cowboys community by becoming a ‘Founding Friend’ of NRL Cowboys House.

The ‘Founding Friends of the House’ program provides an opportunity for the community to engage with and support NRL Cowboys House, the new boarding facility enabling Indigenous students from remote North Queensland communities to attend secondary school in Townsville.

NRL Cowboys House will provide life-changing opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged young people in the country and has begun welcoming the inaugural student cohort in preparation for the start of the 2017 school year.

“We established the ‘Founding Friends of the House' program to give businesses and individuals a way of supporting NRL Cowboys House and the young people who will live there," Cowboys Community Foundation Executive Director Fiona Pelling said.

"It is fantastic that Paynter Dixon Queensland have joined the team and we thank them for their support of this important project."

Paynter Dixon Queensland Managing Director Nigel Gardiner said the company was looking forward to seeing the positive outcomes from NRL Cowboys House for the North Queensland community.

“We’ll witness first-hand the benefits these young men will receive at the House, and within the community,” Mr Gardiner said.

“If we can assist these students in getting a little closer to the finish line, even in the smallest way possible, it will make all the difference.”

Cowboys community engagement officer Matt Bowen said that the House team was excited to be settling their first student intake into life at NRL Cowboys House.

“Coming to NRL Cowboys House is a great new opportunity for these kids, and we can’t wait to share in their experiences both in and out of the classroom,” he said.

Managed by the Cowboys Community Foundation, the charity arm of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, NRL Cowboys House is a joint initiative between the National Rugby League, North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, the Queensland Government and the Australian Government.

The benefits of becoming a ‘Founding Friend of the House’ include recognition, invitations to attend NRL Cowboys House events and 2017 Cowboys membership.
