The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys officially began their 2017 pre-season with a short, sharp session at Cowboys HQ on Wednesday.

Twenty-three of the 35-strong Cowboys squad assembled for testing and conditioning work under the watchful eye of the club’s high performance unit team, led by Paul Bowman and Andrew Croll.

Winger Kyle Feldt said this time of year was always a tough but exciting time for the players.

“It’s great to see the boys again but we all know we’re in for a tough grind,” Feldt said.

“But we’re all aware of the carrot at the end of the pre-season, and that’s the Auckland Nines, the pre-season trial matches and the NRL campaign, so we’re all excited to be part of it.”

More players will return to the training paddock in the coming weeks, with the club’s Four Nations contingent starting their pre-season in the New Year.
