Kangaroos Trent Merrin and Michael Morgan insist the Four Nations favourites won't be taking their opposition lightly when they face tournament underdogs Scotland this weekend.
Australia will start as warm favourites when they take on The Bravehearts at Hull's Lightstream Stadium in the opening game of the Four Nations on Friday night local time (6.00am Saturday AEDT, 5.00am Saturday in Queensland).
But Panthers lock Merrin says the Kangaroos aren't expecting an easy game against the world No.9-ranked nation.
"You're around the best of the best here," Merrin said of training with the Australian squad.
"Everyone takes it very serious, and we came here to get the job done. Every session is high intensity and everyone's putting in 100 per cent.
"It's always going to be a big test. You know they're going to come out and play real tough footy so we're preparing for a real tough game and they'll give us a good lead-in to the [rest of the] Four Nations."
Cowboys star and Kangaroos utility Morgan said the drive to live up to the Australian jersey would ensure complacency isn't an issue against Scotland.
"For me personally, if I get to put on the Australian jersey you want to be giving it your all and give it 100 per cent, and that in itself shows that there won't be any complacency at all because it's not a right to get this jersey – you've got to earn it and respect it when you do get it," Morgan said.
"No-one's going to want to get it and turn up with the wrong attitude."
