It was three long years between Jahrome Hughes’s first NRL game – as a teenage Titan – and his second.

But after the classy display he produced from fullback in an undermanned North Queensland Toyota Cowboys team against the Dragons in Round 12, it won’t be three years until he plays his third.

Recruited to the Cowboy’s NRL squad after a stellar 2015 playing for the Townsville Blackhawks, Hughes was also going to find it difficult to break into first grade straight away, given that incumbent No.1 Lachlan Coote was in good form.

But when given the opportunity, the skilful and fleet-footed Hughes let no one down, impressing on Cowboys debut and producing a top-shelf individual try.

Away from first grade, Hughes produced another quality season for the Blackhawks, and will ply his wares down south in 2017 after linking with the Melbourne Storm.
