Busy Pimlico mum and school-based nurse Carla Henry says being a North Queensland Toyota Cowboys member is “the best thing she’s ever done” and is urging other fans and supporters of the team to do the same.

Carla, mother to Maggie Stephens, 11, and Henry Stephens, 10, has been a Gold Star member for several years and looks forward to cheering the boys on each year from their seats in the Northern grandstand at 1300SMILES Stadium.

“We just love being Cowboys members and over the years we’ve encouraged other family members to join us, and now we’ve got a great little group of people sitting together watching the team compete,” Carla said.

“I got my mother and stepdad 2016 full-season memberships as a Christmas present last year, and they loved it so much that they bought their own memberships for 2017, so now I’m stumped for gift ideas this year!

“We’ve also got my former workmate and his wife sitting near us each week. Having a membership is fantastic because now that we don’t see our friends during the week, we know that every couple of weeks, we’ll be at a Cowboys home game together. It’s created a really great atmosphere. We get kitted out and it’s a fantastic, affordable social event for us.

“Each year, when we get our membership pack and the draw, we plan the year out and nothing will deter us from coming to the footy.”

Carla and her children were among the 19,696 members who joined the Cowboys family last year, with renewals for season members to retain their seats open until Friday 28 October.

The club is also proud to welcome back membership partner Shine Lawyers on a new multi-year agreement.

Shine will be entering its third year of partnership with the Cowboys in the 2017 season and will continue to feature on the back of Cowboys jerseys.

Shine Lawyers Townsville Partner and Branch Manager Garreth Turner said the Cowboys partnership was a perfect fit for the firm, with both organisations holding communities and people at their core.

“After two years of proud sponsorship of the Cowboys, we’re excited to continue our partnership with this premiership-winning team,” Mr Turner said.

“Queensland is Shine’s heartland and the state plays an integral role in our heritage.

“Our partnership with the Cowboys is a natural fit which is underpinned by common values and our mutual desire to serve the communities in which we live.

“Our partnership has allowed us to give back to the community through giveaways and prize packs, particularly to deserving individuals who are in need of the uplifting and energising experience that comes with watching the Cowboys live in action.”

Cowboys CEO Greg Tonner also heralded the partnership.

“We’re about connection and community and making people feel they belong, and membership is the best way of fostering that sense of belonging,” Mr Tonner said.

“Shine is a people-focused business where the strength of personal connections is paramount to their success.

“We’re thrilled to have Shine continue as our membership partner.”

In welcoming the news that such a strong alliance would continue, Gold Star member Carla Henry urged other Cowboys fans to turn their passion and support into membership.

“A colleague of mine encouraged me to get a membership several years ago, and we’ve never looked back.”
