Right now, over 7,000 young Aussies with high care needs are waking up each day in aged care, and another 700,000 are being cared for at home with very limited support.
Youngcare was proudly established in Queensland 11 years ago by four mates driven by the belief that all young Australians – regardless of their care needs – should live a young life.
At the time, the lack of care and housing options and the reality of young people living in aged care was a seemingly invisible issue.
Since then, Youngcare has worked tirelessly to provide greater choice in care and accommodation for young people with high care needs, by providing innovative housing solutions, grants, a national support phone line and research.
To get involved in supporting this important cause at LGIAsuper Community Hub tonight:

All funds raised on the night will go towards Youngcare’s vital work in building a future where no young Aussie has to call aged care 'home'.
“Youngcare is thrilled to partner with the North Queensland Cowboys and Queensland superannuation fund LGIAsuper to deliver greater choice, independence and dignity for young Australians with high care needs,” said Youngcare CEO Samantha Kennerley.
“Statistics suggest that an estimated 280 young people with high care needs are currently living in aged care within the North and Far North Queensland region alone.
"Youngcare’s unique At Home Care Grants program works to help young Aussies with high care needs avoid aged care and remain at home with their loved ones for as long as possible.
"Since 2009, almost $60,000 has been awarded to young people residing in North and Far North Queensland for essential care equipment like wheelchairs and ceiling hoists, as well as home modifications and carer respite services.
"We know we can’t solve this issue alone, but thanks to the support of passionate individuals, we can create solutions that can be adopted all over Australia, helping those who need it most,” Ms Kennerley said.
Connecting with local communities at the LGIAsuper Community Hub gives Queensland superannuation fund LGIAsuper the opportunity to give back to those who work so hard to improve the lives of others.
