The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys are proud to announce a new partnership, with Queensland superannuation business LGIAsuper coming on board as a major partner for the club.

The superannuation fund for current and former Queensland local government employees, LGIAsuper looks after almost $9.5 billion in retirement savings for around 90,000 members.

In announcing the partnership, LGIAsuper CEO David Todd said the core values of the two organisations were aligned and would help foster a mutually beneficial relationship. The LGIAsuper name and logo will feature on Cowboys’ players’ and staff polo shirts as well as training shirts.

“Trusted, reliable, understanding is our brand ethic and I think that lines up pretty closely with the ethics of the Cowboys, so that’s very important to us,” Mr Todd said.

He added that LGIAsuper was especially excited to present the Cowboys Community Hub held at each home game in Townsville. This initiative will give the fund a chance to further connect with local communities by helping different charities raise awareness.

“Community is in our DNA and this Community Hub is a great way for us to give back to the local community,” he said. “And we’re also going to be talking to the Cowboys about other things we can do in the community in the future.”

As part of the new partnership, Cowboys five-eighth and 2015 National Rugby League Premiership winner Michael Morgan is LGIAsuper’s player ambassador. Morgan, along with Cowboys co-captain Johnathan Thurston and hooker Jake Granville were present at this week’s partnership launch. The Cowboys were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of LGIAsuper staff to get involved and support the team.

Cowboys CEO Greg Tonner welcomed the new partnership.

“We’ve got a new partner that has community values with a legacy of doing business in North Queensland and country Queensland who wants to commit with us, to not only help the Cowboys but also wants to help the North Queensland community.”

The Cowboys' 2016 NRL season kicks off on Saturday 5 March with a Round 1 game against the Cronulla Sharks at 1300SMILES Stadium.
