North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Life Member No.3 Matthew Bowen returned to the scene of so many of his triumphs this week, having a training run with old teammates and meeting some of the team’s younger players.

Bowen, 33, retired from the NRL following the 2013 season, having played 270 NRL games for the Cowboys over 13 seasons.

He remains the club leader for games played and after two successful seasons playing for Wigan in the English Super League, will take up a role as Community Engagement Officer with the club next week.

The Cowboys continued their preparation for the 2016 NRL season this week with several gruelling field and gym sessions – a busy February schedule looms, including the NRL Auckland Nines (6-7 February), Broncos trial in Bundaberg (6 February) and the World Club Challenge against Leeds in the UK (22 February, Qld time).

The team kicks off their 2016 NRL campaign against the Sharks at 1300SMILES Stadium on Saturday 5 March.
