IPSWICH JETS v NORTHERN PRIDE
Saturday, 6 September at North Ipswich Reserve, 1.40pm
Referee
: Peter Gough

With the Mackay Cutters failing to make the finals and the high-flying Townsville Blackhawks having the Week 1 finals bye, the Northern Pride are flying the solo flag of the three North Queensland Cowboys feeder teams in Intrust Super Cup action this weekend. In a sudden-death playoff between teams three and six, the Pride, defending premiers, will need to continue their strong recent form to upset a freewheeling Jets side which has arguably the most potent attacking lineup in the roster.

The Pride welcome Cowboys-contracted outside back Hezron Murgha into the team, the Yarrabah product having missed the Pride’s past two matches due to suspension. Murgha has been named on the wing as incumbent No. 1 Linc Port comes off a four-try effort in last weekend’s 46-18 win over the CQ Capras. Cowboys teammate Javid Bowen has been named in the centres, while prop Patrick Kaufusi has also been named. Backrower Ben Spina may be a late inclusion as he was named as the Cowboys’ 18th man for their Round 26 National Rugby League Clash against the Titans. Expect plenty of points in this match, provided the rain threatening to descend upon South-East Queensland holds off.
