Proud North Queensland Toyota Cowboys member Ben Thomson will be winging his way to Sydney for the 2015 National Rugby League grand final after winning the club’s membership incentive promotion.
After signing up as a Silver Star member, the Mission Beach resident went in the draw to win a deluxe trip to the grand final on Sunday, October 4. The prize includes:

In Townsville for the Round 20 game win over the Raiders and the Members’ Carnival the following day, Ben was rapt to have won the prize and was counting the sleeps until he got to go to the biggest game of the season.
“I absolutely love the Cowboys and they’re having such a fantastic year … how good would it be if they made it to the big decider?” he said.
“I know I’ll have a fantastic time anyway, but imagine how much better it will be if our boys are there in October.”
Ergon Energy worker Ben, wife Heidi and son Colby, 10, became members for the first time this year after moving to Mission Beach from the Torres Strait this year.
“We have been to every home game and usually drive down and back in the one day if it’s a 5.30pm game,” Ben said.
“I’ve never won even a meat tray in my life and we were thinking of booking tickets to the grand final anyway, but then I got the call so it was absolutely fantastic.”
While at the members’ carnival, Ben and Colby, 10, met several players at the signing session and posed for a photo with Cowboys’ second-rower Ethan Lowe.
“It’s having great regional members like Ben – who travels hours just to watch us play – that make me feel so proud every time I pull on the jersey,” Lowe said.
