NORTHERN PRIDE 42 (Javid Bowen 3, Linc Port, Semi Tadulala, Sam Obst, Jack Svendsen, David Murphy tries; Hezron Murgha 4, Cameron King goals) def NORTHS DEVILS 10 (Luke Pollock, Brett Greinke tries; Luke Pollock goal) at Barlow Park.

Javid Bowen’s hat-trick of tries has inspired the Northern Pride to a 42-10 demolition of Norths Devils at Barlow Park.

The centre ran in his three tries in the second half to notch up only their second victory of the competition.

After leading 10-4 early, the defending champions ripped through the visitors after half time in wet conditions.

After their eight-try performance the Cairns side will no doubt fancy their chances against Souths Logan, again at Barlow Park.

The Blackhawks have opened up a two-point gap over Easts Tigers at the top of the Intrust Super Cup ladder after their 30-point win over the Redcliffe Dolphins.

It was the Townsville side's sixth win, their fifth straight, with Zac Santo and Johnathon Reuben both bagging a double.

After seven matches the club has scored 270 points, 84 more than the next best attacking team.

• PNG HUNTERS 26 (Israel Eliab 2, Thompson Teteh, Wartovo Puara, Kato Ottio tries; Noel Zeming 3 goals) def MACKAY CUTTERS 24 (Josh Chudleigh 2, Sam Clune, Liam Taylor tries; Liam Taylor 4 goals) at Kalabond Oval, Kokopo.

The Mackay Cutters' winning run has come to an end at the hands of the PNG Hunters by a miserly two points.

After two losses away from home the Hunters clearly enjoyed being back in front of their home fans as they raced out to a 26-6 lead.

But with Josh Chudleigh scoring two on his return from an ankle injury, along with Sam Clune and Liam Taylor, the visitors reeled the home side back in with a 20-point run before falling short 26-24.

Round 8: Mackay Cutters bye
