The two clubs will meet in round one at 1300SMILES Stadium on Saturday night, 7 March and North Queensland will be hoping their night ends up being much happier than the last clash in the second week of the 2014 finals in September.

After fighting back from 30-0 down to be 30-all early in the second half, the Cowboys lost 31-30 in another controversial finals finish.

“It’s good to get it out of the way early. It was disappointing how we finished last year,” Green said.

“I think it will be a great game for our members and fans to see as round one and we need as many of them as we can to come out and support us – get loud and give us a voice.

“It’s always important to start the year well and we’ll be ready to do that.”

The Cowboys don’t leave Queensland in the opening month of the season, playing three of their first four games at home with the other clash being a trip to Brisbane to face the Broncos in round three.

“It’s always one of the showcase games of the year, playing the Broncos at Suncorp,” Green said.

“They usually go close to selling it out and it provides a great atmosphere.

“I’m sure that will be the case again this year.

“Hopefully we’ll be heading there on the back of two good wins at home.”

The final month of the season contains back-to-back long road trips for North Queensland who have a journey to Auckland to face the Warriors followed a week later by the Storm in Melbourne.

“That will be a tough little period for us with a few flights obviously,” Green said.

“We had some success with a camp-type environment with back-to-back away games in Sydney in the season just gone and we might look at doing something like that for those two matches to cut down on the travel.”
