As the season entered its most crucial stage, Lui started playing his best football and it helped take his team as far as the second week of the finals.

With some kilos shed, better application of what was required in his role and growing confidence, the talented halfback/five-eighth became an excellent foil for Johnathan Thurston.

There were even nights when JT’s influence on the game wasn’t as big as his halves partner – the round 26 victory against Manly which featured a try and two try assists from Lui is a prime example.

By season’s end, Lui ranked second for the Cowboys in offloads (29), third in try assists (15) and third in linebreak assists (13).

WHAT’S IN STORE IN 2015:

Lui will start the new season with 83 NRL games of experience behind him and most probably with the No.6 jersey as his to keep if he performs to expectations during the pre-season.

He only signed a one-year contract extension towards the end of the ’14 season and will be keen to impress to earn another deal.

His partnership with JT has the possibility to turn into one of the best in the NRL.
