Injury update following last night’s victory against the Sydney Roosters at 1300SMILES Stadium:

Gavin Cooper (hip):

The back-rower suffered a dislocated hip – one of the most painful injuries you can have – in the 53rd minute.

It was put back in place in the players’ tunnel before he was taken to hospital for x-rays and scans later in the night.

“There were no fractures and Gavin’s hip is sitting where it should be,” Cowboys physio Steve Sartori said.

“He will have an MRI tomorrow to look at the cartilage inside the joint and then ongoing scans over the next three months to check on the blood supply to his hip.

"The scans will be sent to a hip specialist in Brisbane.”

Coops is not expected to require surgery and returned home this morning.

The best case scenario has him returning to the playing field in 12 weeks’ time – a firm return date cannot be determined for some time yet.

Cameron King (ACL):

The hooker will have scans tomorrow which will determine what surgery he will require after rupturing his ACL in the dying stages of the 42-10 win.

He will be out for the rest of 2014.
