The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have held their final training session at Alec Inch Oval in Mt Isa, ahead of Saturday night's pre-season trial against Brisbane.
Workmen were this afternoon putting the final touches on the ground which is sold out for the town’s first experience of NRL football.
Young halfback Michael Morgan will captain the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys’ senior team for the first time – his captaincy role was announced by coach Neil Henry following a team meeting at their Mt Isa base and ahead of their open training session at the match day venue.
The 20-year-old will lead a relatively inexperienced Cowboys lineup in the first hit-out for 2013, with only eight of his 20 teammates boasting NRL experience.
Morgan has previously held a leadership position with the Cowboys’ NYC team and showed how much he had developed as a footballer when he took over the number seven jersey in the final two months of the 2012 season, after Ray Thompson was sidelined by a shoulder injury.
The match kicks off at 5pm.
