Bowen shows his hand for charity

The cagey poker skills of Toyota Cowboys fullback Matthew Bowen have earned $500 for Ronald McDonald House in Townsville.

Bowen was one of 10 North Queensland players who went head-to-head with 10 Jupiters Casino VIP patrons in the annual celebrity charity poker tournament on Thursday night.

The event coincided with the announcement that Jupiters will continue its major sponsorship of the Cowboys for a further two years.

Three Cowboys – Bowen, Jupiters ambassador Matthew Scott and Gavin Cooper –qualified for the final table showdown with the man-on-man duel for the $500 prize to be donated to a charity of their choice eventually coming down to Mango against Coops.

A pair of sevens ended up being enough for the Cowboys’ games record holder to claim the poker title.
