A-Z guide for 2013: H-N
Sunday 30 December 2012 11:30 AM
The boys will be back at training after the break on 7 January – in the meantime, our A-Z guide on what's in store for our North Queensland Toyota Cowboys in 2013 continues...
HOOKER: The biggest battle for a starting position in the Cowboys lineup is at hooker, where there's a multitude of options for coach Neil Henry including Anthony Mitchell, Scott Moore, Ray Thompson, Rory Kostjasyn and Alex Elisala. Form in the pre-season trials will be vital.
INJURIES: Tariq Sims has seen enough of them in the last 16 months to last a career. Let's hope he has better luck in the coming season and can return to his mid-2011 form for the Cowboys.
JT: The Cowboys have three of them – Johnathan Thurston, Jason Taumalolo and Jimmy Tamou. Two have already played Test football and the other one can’t be too far away.
KAUFUSI: The Kaufusi brothers have exciting times ahead of them in 2013. The eldest, Felise, is in the NRL squad for the first time, while Patrick is in contention for Queensland under-20 State of Origin honours after being selected in the preliminary squad.
LEAGUES CLUB: Remember, if you want to meet the Cowboys after a home game, head along to the Cowboys Leagues Club for the post-match presentations. It’s a great opportunity to say hello to the players.
MEMBERSHIP: After reaching our target of 10,000 members in 2012, we’re aiming for 12,000 this year. Being a member is the best way to be part of the Cowboys and there are packages to suit everyone, starting from $29.
NYC: It’s a new-look under-20s squad for the Cowboys in 2013 with only half of last season’s team remaining. Season 2012 was disappointing for coach Todd Wilson’s squad after the grand final achievement of 2011, but the signs in pre-season are promising that a return to the finals could be on the way.
