Nominations for the 2009 Stockland Laurie Spina Shield are now open, with the annual carnival to be played in Townsville from 3-4 July.

All teams wishing to nominate for this year's event should complete and return a nomination form with their registration fee to ensure their place in the competition.

The 2009 Stockland Laurie Spina Shield is open to players turning 10 or 11 years during the 2009 year.

The two-day rugby league carnival focuses on participation, sportsmanship and enjoying the 'greatest game of all' and coincides with the Round 17 Cowboys v Sharks game at Dairy Farmers Stadium.

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys are committed to bringing together districts in the North Queensland and Central Queensland regions for the carnival, which celebrates its 13th consecutive year in 2009.

Stockland's sponsorship of the Stockland Laurie Spina Shield demonstrates its continued commitment to the development of rugby league and all the young participants across North and Central Queensland.

Stockland is also sponsor of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Junior Development and its support benefits the growth of grassroots rugby league in Queensland's regional areas.
