  • The Cowboys Community Fund, supported by Coca-Cola Amatil, was established in 2005 and fosters community support and spirit in North Queensland.

The major objective of the fund is to provide encouragement and financial assistance towards improving the quality of life for young North Queenslanders.

The Toyota Cowboys are extremely proud that they can contribute something back to the North Queensland youth who provide them, and the sport of rugby league, with such tremendous support.

The fund is a perpetual charitable trust for community purposes. Funds will be raised through a range of activities which will be used to assist charitable community causes.

Those causes that receive little or no government support will be particularly welcomed. Financial assistance will be focused and quantifiable by form of direct equipment purchases or programs; not by cash payments.

    Who qualifies for financial assistance?

Applications will be judged on their merits by a management committee. The specific objective of Cowboys Community Fund grants is to improve the quality of youthful lives in North Queensland, therefore causes as diverse as the following may be (but not exclusively) considered to receive financial assistance:The quantity and frequency of grants will be determined by the Fund Management Committee dependant on money raised in any given year. Allocations shall be capped to a maximum grant amount as decided by the fund Management Committee. The decision of the Cowboys Community Fund Management Committee is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Applications should be for goods and/or services (not cash donations) and the outcome should be the direct improvement in quality of life for a North Queensland youth, for example assistance in performing daily tasks, an improvement in health or ability to engage in activities with peers.

Coca-Cola Amatil’s support of the fund
Coca-Cola kick-started the fund in 2005 with a $10,000 donation and a further $10,000 as a result of Cowboys home game Buddy sales in 2005.

Coca-Cola has also pledged to continue to support the fund by contributing 10 cents from each Coke Zero sold at Toyota Cowboys home games.

    The Three Tier structure
A three tier system is the core of the Fund’s operation:

    1. Fund Board – 3 Members
Directors of the company are Cowboys appointees who undertake responsibility for formal and governance matters.

    2. Fund Management Committee – 7 members
The Management Committee will have legal authority to make and implement decisions for the operation of the fund and grant dispersal for the fund.

    3. Administration
The Fund administrator is responsible for answering enquiries about the application process, summarising each application on behalf of the trustee prior to submitting to the Management Committee for a decision, and liaising with applicants in regards to approved grants.
