The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys' Boots for the Bush program encourages everyone involved in rugby league to donate their old football boots.
These second-hand boots are then sent to communities across North Queensland, and further north to PNG, to help all children to participate in our great sport.
Boots for the Bush assisted these communities in 2014: Palm Island, Mount Isa, Kowanyama, Normanton, Arakun and Cherbourg.
To get involved, drop your old footy boots off at Cowboys HQ, 1300SMILES Stadium, Kirwan!
I’d like to say a big thank you for helping us with getting boots for the bush. The look on the kids' faces was amazing, for most of them it was their first pair of boots ever. The juniors boots went to the players in the Laurie Spina carnival in Townsville and to the local school. The adult boots went to our A-grade Normanton stingers team. Before we got the boots they would come to training with no boots and at the game they would swap when someone came off the field so it is appreciated beyond words from them. Again, thank you from us in Normanton, it really is a massive deal for the players out here, I’ve never seen a town love rugby league so much.
