North Queensland Toyota Cowboys coach Neil Henry is confident his charges will push the high-flying Panthers to their limit at CUA Stadium tonight.
Fresh from a morale-boosting win over Newcastle, the Cowboys face a significant test against a Penrith side that is desperate to snap a three-match losing streak.
While wary of a star studded Panthers line-up that is boosted by the return of Luke Lewis and influential half-back Luke Walsh, Henry promised a committed effort in the Round 21 clash.
"They've been very good all year," he said of the second-placed Panthers.
"Michael Jennings is a real handful out on that left edge so our right-side (defence) is going to really have to try and get forward quickly and restrict the amount of time and space he has as well because he's very good on his feet.
"(Trent) Waterhouse has got good offloads and Frank Pritchard's on that side too ... so we're going to have to be very good defensively. We had a couple of lapses last week where they (Newcastle) went through our left edge a couple of times and we can't afford those sorts of lapses.
"But I think if we can take our commitment to getting forward, and played a fairly attractive style of footy, we can certainly make them work fairly hard."
Henry says CUA Stadium – a graveyard for most opposition teams – holds no fears for his charges.
"Over the years for some reason the Cowboys have gone well there so hopefully we can do that again," he said.
"But they're certainly going to be fired up, they've had three losses in a row now and they'd be looking to get their season back on track and we're looking to get a few scalps at the back-end of the season."
In what is a major boost for the Cowboys, the coach confirmed hooker Aaron Payne and prop Matt Scott will both feature on Friday night after overcoming niggling injuries, while Ben Harris will travel south with the squad as the 18th man.
"They're fine," he said of the star duo.
"Payney had a bit of a sore ankle early (in the week) and Scotty's got a bit of a hip flexor problem but they both trained fully on Wednesday."
Henry also stressed his desire to send departing stars Carl Webb, Luke O'Donnell and Ty Williams out in style over the final six rounds of the season.
"We'd like to finish a bit higher than we are at the moment that's for sure and we've got the remaining games to do that," he said.
"And we've got some exciting games coming up...there's a lot to look forward to and we'll have a number of players not going to be with us next year and so it'll be the last games for Carl Webb and Luke O'Donnell, and Ty Williams has announced this will be his last season with the club as well."
