Loud and proud at DFS!

Despite the heartbreaking loss to the Broncos last weekend, we now look forward to our first home game of the 2010 season.

The week so far has been extremely positive, starting with Monday's announcement of our partnership with Tec-NQ that will promote the benefits of continuing education and apprenticeships for our youth and local industry.

This was backed up today with the announcement of a two-year major sponsorship with Cellarbrations and we also launched Stockland's naming rights sponsorship of our very successful Adopt-a-School program and their re-signing as a major sponsor for another two years.

This Friday, we will make another major announcement on another long-term partner re-committing to the Club on a multi-year deal.

When you consider some of the troubles other sporting clubs have across the different codes it is gratifying that the Cowboys can now boast 15 major sponsors, in addition to our wonderful principal sponsor Toyota.

At a dinner last week for our major corporate partners I spoke about the pride we have as a club that so many of the companies involved with the Cowboys have been with us in long-term partnerships.

There has also been confirmation this week that our corporate hospitality has sold out for the eighth consecutive year. A majority of the good people who purchase these corporate memberships are local businesses who have supported the Cowboys for many years.

The support we receive reconfirms that we all have a role to play in ensuring the success of a community-owned club. With sponsorship in place and our corporate members confirmed, we now put the call out to our supporters to assist the players in turning Dairy Farmers Stadium into a fortress!

It's a myth that teams don't like coming to Townsville to play the Cowboys – I'll tell you why: the climate is beautiful (after the early rounds), they play at a great stadium with a wonderful surface in front of a big crowd who love rugby league and love seeing two great teams fight it out in front of them.

This season we're calling on all fans to not only enjoy the game but to also help us create the intimidation factor that some of the other grounds boast!

Our players are obviously the key in improving our home record, but the impact of the home crowd's support on the players shouldn't be underestimated.

I'm calling on all members and supporters to make sure teams know they're in Cowboys territory - loud and proud!
